How can we help?
Find guides, tutorials, and troubleshooting tips to make the most of AtomicTracker.
Getting Started
Creating Your Account
To get started with AtomicTracker, you'll need to create an account. Click the "Sign Up" button on the homepage, enter your email address and create a password. You'll receive a verification email to confirm your account. Once verified, you can sign in and start tracking habits.
Creating Your First Habit
After signing in, you'll be taken to the dashboard. Click "Create Habit" to add your first micro-habit. Give it a clear, specific name like "Drink water after waking up" or "Read 2 pages daily." You can also add a description to remind yourself why this habit matters.
Tracking Your Habits
Each day, visit your dashboard to log your habits. Simply check the box next to each habit you complete. You can also add notes to record how you felt or any observations about that day's completion. The app automatically tracks your streaks and progress.
Using Features
Understanding Streaks
A streak represents consecutive days you've completed a habit. The streak counter increases each day you complete the habit and resets if you miss a day. Don't worry about missing a day—what matters is getting back on track. Use streaks as motivation, not pressure.
Viewing Your Heatmap
The heatmap visualization shows your habit activity over time using color intensity. Darker colors indicate more consistent completion. This helps you identify patterns in your behavior—like which days of the week you're most consistent or when you tend to struggle.
Setting Habit Targets
Some habits work best with measurable targets. Instead of just "exercise," you might set "30 minutes of exercise" or "10,000 steps." When you track these habits, you can record the actual quantity completed, allowing you to see if you're meeting your daily targets.
Adding Habit Notes
Notes help you add context to your habit tracking. You might record what time you completed the habit, how difficult it felt, what distractions you faced, or what motivated you. Over time, these notes become valuable insights into what works for you.
Reviewing Your History
The history view shows all your past habit entries. You can look back at specific dates, see your completion patterns, and review your notes. This historical data is helpful for identifying trends, celebrating progress, and understanding your habit journey.
Habit Building Tips
Start Absurdly Small
The biggest mistake people make is starting too big. If your habit feels difficult, make it smaller. Instead of "exercise for 30 minutes," try "do 5 push-ups." You can always increase the difficulty later once the habit is automatic.
Use Habit Stacking
Attach your new habit to an existing routine. "After I brush my teeth, I'll do 5 push-ups" or "After I pour coffee, I'll write down my priorities." Existing habits act as triggers that make new habits easier to remember.
Never Miss Twice
Missing one day is fine. Missing two days starts a pattern. If you miss a day, make it your top priority to complete the habit the next day. This rule prevents small breaks from becoming long-term gaps.
Focus on Identity
Instead of saying "I'm trying to exercise," say "I am someone who exercises." Small repeated actions shape your identity. Each habit completion is a vote for the type of person you want to become.
Be Patient with Yourself
Building habits takes time. Research suggests it can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a behavior to become automatic, depending on the habit and the person. Don't judge your progress by a timeline—focus on showing up consistently.
Troubleshooting
I forgot to log my habit yesterday. Can I add it now?
Yes, you can backdate habit entries. Navigate to the date you missed in your calendar view and mark the habit as complete. This helps maintain accurate records even when you forget to log in real-time.
My streak disappeared. What happened?
Streaks reset when you miss a day of completion. If you believe this is an error, check your history to see if there's a day without a completion. You can add a backdated entry if you did complete the habit but forgot to log it.
Can I change the name or details of a habit?
Yes, you can edit any habit at any time. Go to your habit list, find the habit you want to modify, and click the edit option. You can change the name, description, target, or other details. Your historical data is preserved.
How do I delete a habit I no longer want to track?
You can delete habits from your habit list. Find the habit and select the delete option. Note that this will remove the habit from your active list, but your historical data for that habit may still be available in your records.
I'm having trouble signing in. What should I do?
First, try resetting your password using the "Forgot Password" link on the sign-in page. If that doesn't work, ensure you're using the correct email address. If you continue to have issues, contact our support team for assistance.
